Certified Divers of CDSA Facilitate Smooth Completion of Steel Pipe Pile Repair Project at Ramu Smelter Wharf in Papua New Guinea

Recently, the steel pipe pile repair project at the Ramu Smelter Wharf in Papua New Guinea (PNG), undertaken by the First Company of CCCC First Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd., has been fully completed. Located in the Basamuk Bay of Madang Province, Oceania, the wharf serves as a key maritime facility supporting the Ramu Smelter. Affected by the harsh and complex natural environment of the local sea area and long-term service, the underwater steel structures of the wharf required systematic anti-corrosion renovation. The construction mainly involved cladding anti-corrosion repair for the wharf’s steel pipe piles and supplementary installation of sacrificial anodes.

Facing challenging overseas construction environments and rigorous underwater operation conditions, the project team gave full play to its professional technical advantages. Multiple CDSA-certified commercial divers went abroad to work on the frontline, undertaking underwater inspection, anti-corrosion repair and other supporting construction tasks.
